Carnivorous Plants: by Jacob Stevenson

Glogster

        Elizabeth Smart: My Story

My story is about a young girl named Elizabeth Smart, who was taken from her
home in the middle of the night. She was living in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was part of a tight knitted mormon family. This book is an autobiography written by Elizabeth Smart herself. My story describes the pain she and her family endured during her kidnapping.

The people in the real story are Elizabeth, Brian David Mitchell, Wanda Barzee, and Elizabeths close, but not so close family. Elizabeth was a nice 14 year old girl, who liked to play the harp, be with her friends, and have fun times with her extended family. Brian David Mitchell~the man who stole Elizabeth out of her home~ claims he is the prophet of god, and has been commanded to take upon 7 wives to descend below all things. Wanda Barzee~according to Mitchell~ is the Mother of Zion. Brian has taken sweet Elizabeth out of her home, so she can descend below all things~which what really means to go against everything god has asked of them~ to become more god like. This Book contains what Elizabeth had to go through, including being hungry, being raped, and being forced to drink alcoholic drinks, smoke, and do drugs.

I did not make many connections to this book, because I have never been taken from my home and had horrible things done to me. But one thing that I connected with, was Elizabeth remembering her family BBQ's. I love having dinner with my family and playing with my older and younger cousins. I felt bad for Elizabeth because she couldn't have them for such a long time, and thought that they would never happen again for her. I could not imagine that because I love to get together with my family and spend time with them.

My favorite quote from this book was when Elizabeth got rescued. It is from one of the police officers that help save Elizabeth. "Are you Elizabeth Smart? Because if you are, your family has missed you so much since you were gone! They want you back. They love you. They want you to come home." I love this quote because Elizabeth thought that she was never going to be able to live through what was happening to her, and this quote shows that she endured through all of it.

I loved this book. At times is got very scary, but I knew that she would be al right. This book got me on the edge of my seat, and kept me reading until midnight. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know about Elizabeth, and what her story is.

Nate huntsman book review Tom Sawyer

Image result for adventure of tom sawyer book cover

Have you ever heard of tom sawyer?  He is the ruffest, tuffest kid there is around.  The only on tougher than him is good old Huck Finn!  This book is about a young man by the name of tom sawyer.  He is always getting himself into trouble.  He is getting engaged, running away to be a pirate, and getting himself trapped in a cave for 3 days!

This book has the theme of action, mystery, and even a hint of historical accuracy!  This book has it all. It goes from one minute, he is on top of the world, to the next, where he is in super deep trouble with his Aunt polly. This book is fun for anybody that likes to read, cause i sure enjoyed it.

I think one of my favorite quotes is,"Getting engaged is fun!  All you have to do is promise to love me, and no one but me, and then we kiss.  Its easy!"  Just by reading this quote, you can tell how much of a trouble maker that kid tom really is! Getting engaged at the age of 12?!?  I hope everybody else knows that that is wrong.

I have always kinda related to tom, because he is always getting into trouble, and likes to be the spotlight of attention.  When he runs away to become a pirate, he finds out that people thought they had died.  So to get a ton of attention, they "came back from the dead," To go to their own funerals.

I LOVED this book!  It was such a great book.  I have always been one for the action/mystery books, and this had everything I had asked for, Plus more!  I hope you will all read this book.

How They Choked
By Georgia Bragg
Do you enjoy history? Or the study of medicine? Or just learning new things? If so you will love How they Croaked by Georgia Bragg.

How they choked is a fantastic non fiction book that will grab everyone’s attention. In this book, Bragg teaches you about how many famous people died. She tells their story and how they “croaked”, then you get to see interesting facts about their life, their death, the time period they lived in and more! I loved learning even more about Charles Darwin, Ludwig Van Beethoven, James A. Garfield, and other famous people and their deaths.

“The people in this book didn’t become famous because of how they croaked but because of how they lived. The people in this book were doing what they love, and it probably didn’t feel like work at all–they were just playing.”

I love this quote because it is really true. People do not remember your death, they remember how you lived, what made you different, what made you, YOU! I want to encourage you all to pursue your dreams and do what you love. You will be so much happier and you will be better at what you do, because you love it.

I honestly have not read any books like this before. The writing style is very different and Georgia Bragg has fantastic voice in her writing. She makes what would bore me to death in history class, the most exciting thing I have ever read. Here is a quote from the first chapter.

“King Tut is more famous for being dead than alive. He was a blip in Egyptian history until 1922, when some explorers hit pay dirt and found his three-thousand-year-old mummy nestled inside a giant sarcophagus.”

I would recommend this book to everyone! I loved it so much and I learned a lot! It is so entertaining, interesting and hilarious. Georgia Bragg has changed the way I view history.

Adventures Wanted

By; M.L. Forman

Have you ever wonder if you has a secret life in a another world. If you could go on amazing adventures? Fight Three Legged Trolls? Fight A Dragon? Well if you are wondering all this happens in this amazing book!!

The sign is small, tucked into the corner of Mr. Clutter s bookshop window: Adventurers Wanted. Apply Within. No one but fifteen-year-old Alex Taylor even seems to notice it is there. And for Alex, who has wished for a change in his life, it is an irresistible invitation. Upon entering Mr. Clutter's bookshop, Alex is swept away to a faraway land filled with heroic warriors, mysterious elves, and hard-working dwarves. Alex becomes the eighth man in a band of adventurers seeking the lair of Slathbog the Red an evil dragon with a legendary treasure. Along the way, Alex and his new friends must battle dangerous trolls and bandits, face undead wraiths, and seek the wisdom of the Oracle in her White Tower. Alex s adventure takes him to distant and exotic lands where he learns about courage, integrity, honor, and most important friendship.

I would give this book a 10 of 5 stars because it has so many twists and turn that you don't what is going to happen in the next chapter! I would recommend this to anyone who loves adventure and exciting books. I would also recommend this book to anyone who like Ranger's Apprentice. They follow the same story line.

Alex is a young 15 year old boy who doesn't like his step dad or his step brother. He wants to change his life by doing something else. When he enters the book shop he just wants to know why the sign kept changing but learns that his life was to be an adventure. At the beginning of his adventure he doesn't trust himself that much but by the end he learns to trust himself and his fellow adventures.

My Quote "Adventures Wanted, Apply Inside" Everybody is hoping a adventure will come to them in their life but I learned in this book that you have to go and find the adventure in your like.

100 Cupboards

100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson

This fantastic mystery book is one of the best books I've ever read. The author really grabs your attention and makes the book seem so real.

Henry York is a twelve year old boy that moves in with his Aunt, Uncle, and three cousins in Kansas. Henry's room is in the attic and there is strange noises in the wall. Being a curious young boy, he starts to peel off the plaster of the attic wall. Behind the plaster he finds 99 mysterious cupboards that he has no idea what they are or what they do. Later, Henry finds out ways to get through the cupboards that lead to new places. But when he loses Henrietta (his cousin) in one of the cupboards, things get scary...

I loved this book and I would recommend it to people who are anxious and like mysteries. The author builds up the pressure and intensity and its really exciting.

I think that this book is very relatable to. When I was reading the book, I felt like I was Henry because I would do the things he did. Like when he started trying to open the cupboards. I think I would have done the same.

"Anastasia reached the attic stairs, slowed down, and listened. She knew that the first step to asking about secrets is seeing how much you can find out by sneaking." This statement is so true. If you are going to ask someone about something, you've got to know a little about it first.

Unbroken

UNBROKEN
BY LAURA
HILLENBRAND
A breathtaking book about sacrifice, and enduring to the end.
This book is about Louie Zamperini, a young and talented boy. He goes from a olympic winner in 1936 to sign up in the air force, but after he signs up for the air force, ww2 begins, and japan bomb pear harbor, letting America enter the war.

I recommend this book to people who love action packed, inspirational books, for teenagers who love to read. This story could be related to by anyone. This book is a great book and was such a journey to read, and a real tear jerker, I highly recommend reading this book

In this book I made a connection to it because a lot of my family had a certain job in ww2, and had stories similar to do with louis, especially with living in a bomber.

"Never give up, no matter what."- Louie Zamberini This quote states that no matter what, keep going, similar to what Louie had to do later in the book.

Where She Went

Where she went is the second book in the if I stay series. But the difference is that it isn't coming from Mia's side, it's coming from her boyfriends side and the effects after the crash. there is a lot that happens before Mia and her boyfriend actually see each other. When Mia woke up from her coma, her boyfriend had to leave because he was on tour with his band and he had to go and perform, and also after Mia had recovered, she went to the top music school in New York. Her boyfriend was upset because she wasn't around and rumor has it that he got a new girlfriend and she doesn't like her. But for one night, they get to see each other and talk to each other. He feels the same way about Mia, but Mia doesn't feel the same way about him... This book is filled with love and romance and it is just as good as the first book. When I finished reading this book, I cried and cried, I loved it so much. Both of these books are amazing and they are wanting you to know more and more... unfortunately, there is no 3rd book, but the lady that wrote these two books has other books like these 2 and they are amazing, I am reading another one of her books. Every time I read one of her books, I want to read another one of them

The Hunger Games: Glogster

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be Unravelled alive? How about Undone?  Or maybe Unwound? That's what this sci-fi book is about. This book is full of adventure.

In this novel, there is something called being Unwound. This process is kind of like an organ donor to the extreme. Not just organs, but everything is separated and ready to give away.  They have to use 98% of your body to donate to others. Have a leg crushed in a car accident? No problem. Just get a new one from an unwind. Even your whole brain and blood are used! By law, they cannot unwind you until you are 13-18. Also by law, if you are being unwound, you have to be conscious for the whole process.

I really enjoyed this high paced book.  This book really questions the natural rights of a human. In fact, before they made the law, America had a "heartland war" over the rights of a human being. Unwinds do not want to be unwound, but they don't really have a choice. If you are unproductive, naughty, or just plain bad, your parents can sign a contract to have you unwound. Once the parents sign it your fate is sealed and they cant change it.

This is what has happened to two kids. Their names were Conner and Ria.They were going to the "chop shop", but their bus crashed and they are on the run. While that happened, they meet a tithe. A tithe is someone who's parents have ten children, so they grow up being told that there only purpose is to be a tithe.  (if they are religious, one tenth of everything must go to the church!) They are all trying to escape unwinding, and even the tithe, whose name is Lev, begins to question something he has "known" all his life - does he really want to be unwound??

I would recommend this book to readers who like: Adventure, science fiction, dystopia, and  speculative fiction.

A quote/add from this book is:   "Do you have a troubled teen? Can’t seem to fit in? Listless and angry? Often prone to fits of impulsive and sometimes dangerous behaviour? Does your teen seem unable to stand living in his or her own skin? It could be more than simple teenage rebellion. Your child may be suffering from Biosystemic Disunification Disorder, or BDD. Well, now there’s hope! Haven Harvest Services has five-star youth camps throughout the nation that will take the angriest, most violent, and dysfunctional sufferers of BDD and carefully ease them into a soothing divided state.
Call now for a free consultation—counselors are standing by! Haven Harvest Services. When you love them enough to let them go."

This quote explains what is going on the book. This is an add to send your teen to Harvest Camps, where they unwind you for other peoples benefit. This is what there society is pretty much based on, and there you have it folks! Unwind.

Have you ever read the book Hunger Games? The Hunger Games was a fantastic book about two people who go into this war called the Hunger Games. Twentyfour people enter the games in war against each other. The second book is this one Caching Fire.
Catching Fire is about Katniss and Peeta who are entered back into the games. (Which has never happened in Hunger Games history before.) Katniss and Peeta end up in an arena shaped as a clock. Each hour possess a new challenge. Such as Evil monkeys, huge waves, poisoned fog, etc. Katniss and Peeta join up with some other tributes Finnick and Johanna. Together they face the challenges that lye ahead. Suddenly the other tributes turn on them. Katniss does something crazy and Peeta is gone? I wont tell you what happens next to find out you need to read Catching Fire.
This was an amazing book. If your one for action ad adventure this book is for you. Also their is a tiny hint of romance in this book if you are in to that stuff. I loved this book so much I already started the third one. Hope you at least try this book. Great book!
This book I think is about love, friendship, and survival. This book has a lot of ideas of how to survive in the wild. Dealing with tilde waves and swimming also with dangerous monkeys. This is also about Peeta and Katniss finding friendship with each other. After (Peeta leaves I guess.) Katniss keeps this pearl he gave to her she realizes something I wont say what but she does realize something about Peeta.
"I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now and live in it forever." Is one of the many amazing quotes in this book. This quote shows how much Katniss really does care for Peeta. Which the whole time you sort of had to guess about. It is also very beautiful and I could incorporate into my life this actually once you look around for minute come up a lot you just wish you could stay in that moment forever. Another quote I love is "Aim higher incase you fall short."I love this quote because well I don't really know why I like it but it is so interesting I guess that's what you would say. I just think always do the best in case you do it wrong. Like if you are supposed to do one paper do two just incase the first one is wrong.
I hope you all read this book I sure loved it. I hope you do to.

                                            False Prince

Written By Alexis Crandall                               By Jenifer A Nelsons

The False Prince is a fun fiction book that held my attention from the beginning. The book False Prince tells the story from the point of view of an orphan named Sage.  After he is kidnapped by a nobleman Bevin Conner, Sage is forced to chose who he is and find out what he stands for. Mr. Conner has a plan so outrageous it is treason. He wants to train Sage and the other orphans he picked up to be the Prince Jaron who died in a pirate attack son many years ago.

Sage is my favorite character because he is defiant to the end. Sage will never give up and will never fail to stand up for what he believes in. I am a lot like Sage because once I want something I will try hard to get it. (Although I am not fighting for the leadership of a whole country). Sage is not the coolest character in this book Tobias is pretty cool also. Tobias is one of the orphans that was training with Sage.

This Book is my all time favorite. One of my favorite Quotes from the book is when Sage says “A person can be educated and still be stupid, and a wise man can have no education at all.” Sage is a really arrogant orphan but he is Still really smart. This is a Great book that I would recommend to anyone who likes to have fun and be a nice person.

Simon Bloom: Gravity Keeper

Simon Bloom: Gravity Keeper
Written by Michael Reisman
Simon, a boy with a very energetic, imaginative mind, is drawn into Dunkerhook Woods - a hidden, magical place that no one has ever noticed before. A mysterious book falls out of the sky and onto Simon's head. This book, the Teacher's Edition of Physics, lets him control the laws of physics. Simon and his friends - the shy and easily scared Owen, and popular Alysha - have fun with formulas (special words that let them control things like gravity and friction). But (as is usually the case) there are villains like the wickedly powerful Sirabetta (with her formula tattoos) who want to steal the Book. On top of that, the people who own similar books controlling different aspects of science (i.e. Biology, Astronomy, Chemistry, etc.) think that Simon stole the book!
The main character (of course) is Simon Bloom. He's an 11-year old sort-of-nerd (but not really). His two friends, Alysha (who is a little stuck-up at first), and Owen (who's shy and talks really fast), are main characters as well. The Narrator plays a major role in the story, as he is an actual person and not just a magical cloud! The Villain is Sirabetta, who uses magical tattoos to block formulas! My Favorite Character is Simon, because he's relatable and funny as well as smart.
I'd recommend this book to anybody who
1. Enjoys Books without a Lot of Romance (because this seriously has none).
2. Enjoys Books that mix information with a lot of action (there's a lot of fights, with a bunch of awesome facts in between).
3. Enjoys Math, Science, English, or History (because they're really hip and cool nerds)!
“Curiosity is a good thing, like onion soup. But too much onion soup makes your breath smell terrible. And too much curiosity can make your whole body smell terrible, if it causes you to be dead. ” This quote is a great one to describe this book because it tells about one of the central themes in the book: Be careful where you go poking around and what you get yourself into. It also shows the book's humor which is mixed in to make it absolutely amazing!

The Scorch Trials
James Dashner

This book is the next book in the series after the maze runner. the start of this book is when they have escaped the maze and were picked up by some government or army guys. they are taken to a place to sleep. but something strange happens in the night and they are forced to go and try to cross a desert to get a cure because they are infected. Some crazy things happen like a crazy storm and cranks. Its got lots of crazy twists. It is a fun book.

So characters that are in this book are. They main character Thomas then the knew leader Minho the old leader newt and Teresa. So Thomas is strong fighter and is determined to do what is needed. Minho is a powerful leader who is smart. Newt is also a smart and good leader. Teresa is stubborn and tough. together they make a pretty good team.

This is my favorite quote from the book “i felt her absence. it was like waking up one day with no teeth in your mouth. you wouldn't need to run to the mirror to know they were gone." this was my favorite it is just so well worded that it makes me have the feeling.

I really liked this book I would recommend it to any one. But if you do not like books about adventure It might not be for you. I really loved it thought it was a good read and a lot of fun and very exciting.

Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson

“Where there are villains, there will be heroes. Just wait. They will come.” ―Brandon Sanderson, Steelheart. Brandon Sanderson's sci-fi novel Steelheart is sure to make your heart race, and keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. In David Charleston's world, there are no heroes. Ten years ago, a disaster occurred that people  called Calamity, which resulted in where ordinary people were given super-human abilities, and were referred to as Epics. Yet every single Epic that wielded such powers turned out to be evil. One of the most powerful Epics, Steelheart, names himself emperor of David's city, Newcago. It was said that no bullet could harm him, and no weapon could pierce his skin, he was invincible. After ten years of barely surviving, and no one ever fighting back, David decides to join the Reckoners - a shadowy group that studies Epics, finds their weaknesses, and assassinates them. As David becomes part of the Reckoners, his only desire is the destruction of the Epic to killed his father - Steelheart. David has a secret that he has kept for a long time. A secret that could be the key to Steelheart's downfall. David has seen Steelheart bleed.

Brandon Sanderson does an excellent job illustrating each character's personality and traits. As you read, it is very easy to get a clear picture in your mind of each character and their attributes which makes the book all that more pleasant. A few examples of characters are:
David Charleston: Member of the Reckoners, very bad at metaphors, and vastly prefers rifles to handguns. “I'd said the sensation felt like an unbalanced washing machine filled with a hundred epileptic chimpanzees. Pretty proud of that one.”- David Charelston
Prof: Leader of the Reckoners, also known as Jonathan Phaedrus, former fifth grade science teacher, and also agrees in the downfall of Steelheart. “I trust you with their lives,' Prof said, still writing, 'and them with yours. Don't betray that trust, son. Keep your impulses in check. Don't just act because you can; act because it's the right thing to do. If you keep that in mind, you'll be all right.”-Prof
Abraham: Member of the Reckoners, soft spoken, and yet has a fondness for large guns, he is the group's tech guy. “You cannot keep all men confined all the time,” Abraham said, “not without creating a strong prison. So instead you allow some measure of freedom for those who really, really want it. That way, they do not become rebels. If you do it right.” - Abraham.
There is just a taste of some of the characters' personalities that I know you will grow fond of as you read the book.

I really loved and enjoyed reading Steelheart, and the second book, Firefight. It has lots of humor, and is very adventurous, and will hit the soft spots at some times. It is a clean read, and if you enjoy science fiction novels and any other book written by Brandon Sanderson, I know you will not be disappointed with what Steelheart has to offer!

House of Hades by Rick Riordan

Riordan's House of Hades captured my attention with it's fast paced action and adventure.
The 7 main characters; Leo, Annabeth, Percy, Jason, Piper, Hazel, and Frank are on a quest to close the Doors of Death. They must succeed, or the world will fall to the evil earth goddess, Gaea. Filled with action and adventure, Riordan's book lets you get to know the characters better individually as they take turns narrating the story of their courageous quest. If you have not read this book or the other books in this series, I highly recommend them.
This book teaches you a lot about friendship. It brings together characters from both Roman and Greek backgrounds; two groups who have fought with each other many times before. They learn to overcome their differences while teaching them that they are that different after all. They learn that  working well with others on a team is a very important quality.
The author has a very fun writing style. Riordan has a very good sense of humor and great voice, and it shows in his writing. Reading his books are very entertaining and relatable. This book was no exception. He has a writing style that is similar in every book he writes but very original and different from other authors. I really have enjoyed reading his books.
You can definitely tell that the author has worked long and hard to perfect his characters. Each one has his/her own personality. I think that having good characters adds to the book. It makes the setting and circumstance seem more real and relatable. Like I said before, I really enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it before.
The setting in this book is very well described. The characters travel to Europe, the most dangerous place for demigods like the main characters. They fight of monsters together in beautiful places like Rome and Ogygia (a far off mythical island in the middle of the ocean). The authors descriptive words and phrases he uses adds to the book and makes the story more realistic.
This book has many connections to the world and to the other books in the series. It has connections to the world because they travel to real places like Rome. It connects to other books in the series because it is continuing on with the story that is told by the preceding books.
In conclusion, this was a very fun book to read. I recommend it to all who have read other books by Riordan, or if you really like action and adventure you will love reading this book.

Savvy
By Ingrid Law

Did you ever wish you had super powers? I know I have. This family does. But only this family. There's another catch. You don't get to choose. It only happens on your 13th birthday. What would you think if, on top of that, you can't control it? Would you still want a super power? Well, if your in this family you don't get a choice. Your brothers have the  power to control storms and electricity, your mother is perfect at everything, and your grandfather moves mountains. Still not convinced that you don't want a superpower? Now it's Mibs turn. Her birthday is the next day. She was getting excited. But her father gets in a car accident. Her mother and brother (the one that has electricity to restart the car) go to see him. This isn't the worst part. The church has offered to host her party. Usually, this family has the party by themselves to keep the powers a secret. What will happen? Will Mibs find out that after all this waiting, she may be powerless like her father?

My favorite quote from this book is "You never can tell when a bad thing may make a good thing happen." This quote is a lot of the story. It also means a lot. When something bad happens, something good usually comes from it. If you look back, you may find that this is true.

My favorite character in this book is Mibs. She is the main character and she learns a lot. At the beginning of the book, she is mostly just excited about her new power. But if you read carefully, you find that she changes very much. She learns new important things about life and how to make it through.

I really enjoyed this book. I think everyone should read it. I like how Mibs finds out that everyone has their own individual worth and that she learned how to make it through hard times.  I give it 5 out of 5 stars and hope that you will read it.

Call Me Francis Tucket
by: Gary Paulsen

Francis was on his way to a new life. he just got a rifle from his dad. He wanted to go out and shoot his new rifle. When out of nowhere t he Pawnee Indians came and stole Francis and took him to their village. He was there alone and with out his rifle. One day a man came and saved Francis and took him to the Forrest. He gave him a horse. told him to go to his hand cart company. He couldn't find them. He wounder along till he found a wagon.

I think that this book is very good and everyone should be able to read it.  I like how Francis gets to become more like a man. I think that if we all just get to be a little more like Francis then we can have a more happier life. It was in the old western time when they were on there on and had to get there own food. It was dusty and horrible.

One of my favorite quote was "Boy it's time to be on your own." said the mountain man. I like it because it mean that you have to be on your on one time in your life. It helped him find the kids in the wagon.

I liked this story because it has action and emotion. It didn't take long to develop. I recommend it to all the people that like action and a little emotion.

Brotherband Chronicles: The Outcasts
By: John Flanagan
Have you ever read the Ranger Apprentice books? Well if you had then you'll love the Brotherband Chronicles! This book takes place in a place called Skandia. It's a island out in the middle of the ocean. Fighting is the main event in this book. They go and steal from people and use it for their own good.

Hal is a young boy who lost his father in a raid. He lives with his mom. Thron is a friend of Hal's dad, he lost this hand in a raid. Hal goes through the Brotherband training. It trains boys to become a fighter and teaches you everything you need to know. But their is a another band that is in it and Hal becomes to hate them.

Hal is by far my favorite character! He loves to build things and so do I. He is a born leader and leads is his brotherband group throughout the training. He is born skirl. ( skirl is a leader of a boat) I got inspired by Hal, I was really surprised by the ways he overcomes his problems and the problems he faces with his brotherband.

The quote that chose was "You're the skirl, Take charge." One member of the brotherband said this to Hal. I really like this quote because I am the guy who likes to stay in the crowd so it talks to me saying to take charge and lead the way.

I really liked this book, people who like adventure and mystery will love this book!  I give it 10 stars out of 5! This should be the next book you read!!!!

Counting By Sevens - Hadley Peay

Counting By Sevens

By Holly Sloan

Did you enjoy Palacio’s Wonder or Out of my Mind by Draper? If so, you will love Counting By 7’s.

Counting by 7’s is a stunning realistic fiction by Holly Sloan. The book is about twelve-year old kid genius, Willow Chance. She is an only child who loves all sorts of plants, the color red and diagnosing medical conditions of people she sees. She claims to have only one best friend, who moved away. Her life is turned upside-down when her beloved adoptive parents die in a car crash. She has no family and nowhere to go. Can Willow find a new home and overcome her parents death?

“The correlation between expectation and delivery of desire could no doubt be quantified into some kind of mathematical formula.”

I love this quote because it shows how main character, Willow Chance thinks. It gives you a glimpse into her mind and into her world. It also shows how smart she is, and what kinds of words she uses.

I had a text-to-text connection to this book. It has a similar plot to Out of my Mind and Wonder. During these books you live inside of a character's mind. You listen to their despairs and their hopes. These books also have the common characteristic that the main character does not fit in, or belong. I have had friends who have lost loved ones and I know the recovery process is hard, but Willow Chance has one way to do it.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is such an inspirational, funny and wraps the story together so well. I would also recommend this book to those who have lost a loved one. How Willow recovers from the death of her beloved parents is unbelievable and it brings inspiration to all.

Mason Fairbanks A Wrinkle in Time

A Wrinkle in Time
By: Madeleine L'Engle

A Wrinkle in Time is a science fantasy that is very interesting with many adventures. A girl named Meg Murry, her brother Charles Wallace, and her friend Calvin O'Keefe are transported to space and time to rescue a gifted scientist that is also Meg's and Charles Wallace's dad.

Meg, her brother, and friend, travel through time and space to rescue her dad from evil forces that hold him on a different planet as a prisoner. In the middle of one stormy night, a woman named Mrs. Whatsit shows up at the Murry's house. She looks normal but she has the ability to read Meg's thoughts. She talks about a wrinkle in time that Meg and her companions use to travel to the fifth dimension and save her dad. Camazots is ruled by a powerful ruler known as the Dark Thing. Meg and her companions go through many trials and try to defeat the evil power. There are many adventures and plenty of detail in this book to make it amazing.

In my opinion, I think this book was very good. I also thought that it was very hard to follow along with it. I would recommend this book to people who love to read. I think that people who love to dive into the book would love to read this. It is a very exciting book.

I think that a really good part in the book is when they are traveling in time. The author gives so many details and describes it very well so it is easier for us to understand. When Meg goes through time she is put in a lever ending black room. In the book it describes it as "nothingness". I really liked how the author explained this and also all the other details she put in this book.

In this book there are many phrases and lines that really stand out to me. One of those is "We can't take any credit for our talents, it's how we use them that counts." I think this means that we can't take pride in out talents if we never use them. Every one has different talents and we use them in different ways. Its how we use our talents that make a difference.

Nate Huntsman The Lost Hero book review

Image result for the lost hero

Riordan's book," The Lost Hero," amazed me with how well it was written.  If you really like books that are fiction, and have a ton of action, this book is for you.  This book was just an all out really good book.

The plot of the book is that Jason, the main character, wakes up on a bus, holding a girls hand. The girl is Piper McLean.  There is also a Mexican kid sitting in front of him.  His name is Leo Valdez.  He asks who they are.  They think he is just kidding, but he has no idea.  He has had his memory stolen.  The rest of the book is about his quest in order to get his memory back, and to save the world from a very bad man.  You will have to read the rest of the book to find out what happens.

I would recommend this book for people that love action adventures that are fiction.  A good quote to show you this is,“I have lightning and wind powers," Jason reminded him. "Piper can turn beautiful and charm people into giving her BMW's. You're no more a freak than we are. And, hey, maybe you can fly, too. Like jump off a building and yell 'Flame on!'"Leo snorted. "If I did that, you would see a flaming kid falling to his death, and I would be yelling something a little stronger than 'Flame on!"
