The Alchemyst

I recently read a book called The Alchemyst.  It is written by Michael Scott.  The main characters are Josh and Sophie Newman.  They are teenagers living with a relative because their parents are archaeologists on a dig.  While working, Sophie sees some mysterious figures in overcoats and a man with them that has a gray face.  They walk into the bookstore where Josh works.  When a magical fight breaks out in the store between Josh's boss, Nick Flemming and the man with the gray face, Sophie and Josh know the secret of Nick Flemming: Nick Flemming is really Nicholas Flamel.  Since the evil man with the gray face knows who they are Nicholas has to take them into hiding with him and must train them. "All he knew was that for the first time in their lives, they were different in ways he could not even begin to comprehend." If you enjoy mythology, mystery, and battle this is a must-read!

Annexed

Annexed by Sharon Dogar is the story made famous by Anne Frank, but from Peter's point of view. This is a fictional story since we don't have a written record of Peter's feelings. Peter's family joined the Franks in hiding during WWII. At the beginning of the story Peter is very sad because he saw his girlfriend Liese and her family being taken right before his family goes into hiding. He misses her and regrets not doing something to stop it from happening. Peter is unhappy about hiding and sulks in his room, however he enjoys being in attic by himself with his cat. At first Anne really bugs him, but later he learns to enjoy her company and really like her. While talking to Anne Peter said, "I like the idea of being responsible for my actions, not the whole race's. Is that so wrong?" This shows how Peter feels about being Jewish during the Holocaust. The Franks, the Van Pels, and Dr. Pfeffer live in hiding for two years and two months before they are captured and sent to the camps.

You would like this book if you enjoyed the story about Anne Frank and want to read the story from a different point of view, or even if you're curious about the Holocaust. I enjoyed reading this story, but I was bothered reading a fictional book about a real person who really didn't live that long ago. We're not really sure what he thought or what he said because he didn't keep a diary like Anne. Sadly I suppose there isn't any family left to prove otherwise.

Gone

Gone is a book about a city in California called Perdido Beach where all the people over fifteen disappear at exactly the same time. The kids there are scared, worried, and have no idea what to do. At times like these there is always some one who steps forward and takes charge. In this case it's a fourteen year old boy named Sam. After a day or two Sam starts to worry about being leader. Kids from Coats, a school for troubled kids, come down from their school to take over. As people and animals start to mutate kids get strange powers and animals go weird, like flying snakes and talking coyotes. But when they find out Caine a boy from Coats is the most powerful he takes over the beach and changes the way it is run. My favorite line in this book is "kill me or let me go" Lana says this to a pack of coyotes that captured her. You would like this book if you like books with lots adventure and mystery.

Lord of the Rings Two Towers is a great book for anybody. The start of the book begins when the fellowship of the ring is split up. Then they each go on different journeys. This book is for people who like action packed books. It has a lot of wars and fights during the book. The book will take you right in at the start.A quote from this book is "They're taking the Hobbits to Isangard".

I decided to read The hunger Games because I was so sick of hearing everything so great about... so I decided to read it! And it was weird!! But it was also good. I have never read a book about kids trying to kill each other to the death... I thought it was actually kinda sad when everyone died. This book is so different because such Random things happen to Katniss.
Katniss is a normal teenage girl who comes from a family who doesnt have much money. She lives with her sister, Prim, and her mother. Katniss spends a lot of time with Gale. A boy she secretly likes from the whole beginning... (I think) She hears that Prim gets called to the Hunger games, and feels bad... So she takes her place.
In summary, this book is about Katniss and all the hard things she has to get through in the annual Hunger Games. In some parts of the book, Katniss came very close to dieing. Find out what happens to Katniss in this unique book now!
Read the book it is so good!!!! I hate reading (A LOT) ! And this is one of the few books that I actually like. I am planning on reading the 2nd and 3rd soon.

Titan's Curse

I recently read a book called The Titan's Curse [part of the Percy Jackson series book three]. I have only read 1,2, and 3 but I have come to really have come to like the books. The third book is mainly about Luke trying to bring Kronos back to life. Every student that's from Camp Half Blood that joins Luke and Kronos makes him stronger. Once he gets strong enough he is going to try to take over Olympus. Anybody that's read the Percy Jackson books 1 and 2 will like this one. Favorite quote- "Ever had a flying burrito hit you? Well, it's a deadly projectile, right up there with cannonballs and grenades." Grover

The Lost Hero

Recently I read the book, The Lost Hero. It is a thrilling expansion of the loved Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. It is about a boy named Jason who finds himself sitting on a bus holding hands with a girl, Piper, that he has never met and a boy, Leo, sitting in the next bench laughing. He is then encountered through a series of events that lead to him saving the world. As Hephaestus said "Nothing lasts forever, not even the best machines. And everything can be reused."

I liked this book because it had a lot of suspense. I love books that get you interested it the first page. This book Is very easy to understand because they are real life experiences for teens like us. It is very cool because you never know what the story will end like but you can always have an idea because sometimes it has happened to you. one of my favorite quotes in the book is "Life isn’t about keeping score. It’s not about how many people call you and it’s not about who you’ve dated, are dating or haven’t dated at all……But life is about who you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love……" It just makes everyone feel good when you hear it because it is so true. i think this book is more for teenagers or pre-teens because it says it right in the title. It is an amazing book and it really helped me. I have talked to a lot of people that have read thins book and they all loved it.

The People of Sparks

This book is the second book of Ember and the second in a series of three. You should read the city of Ember first before reading this book and continue on to this one. I liked the city of Ember so I decided to read this book also. This book is after all the people from Ember get out and find the City of Sparks. They start to work there and they all live in a big, old hotel. The time frame of this book is after the technology age but because of wars and poverty people kind of go back into the old age. For example, they had cars but they all ran out of gas so they took out all the engines and used horses to pull them instead. After the people of ember get to Sparks many contentions rise and everyone is starting to fight. Soon, the people of Sparks want to force them out but they want to stay because they have no where else to go. You will have to read the book to find out the rest.

If you liked the book or the movie of The city of Ember then you will like this book. I have to say I did like The city of Ember more though. This is a qoute from the book: "They can't stay here," said Mary. "There are too many of them. Where would we put them? How would we feed them?" Pg. 45 paragraph 2 Author: Jeanne Duprau

Ravens Gate
By: Ant
hony Horowitz
Ravens Gate By Anthony Horowitz is my favorite book that I have ever read. It is a fiction mystery type of a book with a whole lot of action. It starts with a teenage boy named Matt without any parents. He gets blamed for a lot of stuff he doesn't do. He often says "I guess I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

One day he gets accused for murder when he didn't even do it, but he was found guilty. As a punishment he gets sent to a service project facility with Mrs. Deverill. Here he learns that he is not an ordinary boy but he has very special powers. Mrs Deverill knows about it and is using him for something very bad and involves trying to kill him.

Mrs. Deverill has a creepy slave that Matt picks on and often calls him "one of the slimy pigs that he works with." This is because he takes care of the pigs, and it makes him smell disgusting. He is a very interesting correcter and is just one of the many people in this book you will love reading about. This book is great and I think any body that loves action will two.
