Soldiers Heart
By: Eric Pedroza
Soldiers Heart is about a young boy named Charley. Charley lives in Minnesota and is very curious about war. As he is curious he enrolls and says "I'm enrolling in the Army" to his mom and packs up his stuff and leaves. When he enters war he is put in the Minnesota Company. Only after just a few weeks he goes into war with the Rebels. This book takes place in the Civil War times. During the war Charley soon finds out that war is not easy at all as he gets a lot of bumps and bruises. He gets really hungry and can't feel his legs all to good. As he is in battle shooting in his rows he hopes and prays that he is not going to be hit. Bodies drop dead all around him as the Rebels pick them off one by one.
I really like this book. It is filled with a lot of action. It also has a lot of battles since it takes place in the Civil War. The very last battle is in Gettysburg. I think it is kind of interesting how a kid would lie about his age to get in the army. Most 15 year olds are scared of war. I think that the author of this book did a really good job on writing it.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read action or likes to learn about war.
