Seedfolks

Seedfolks

This is a book about people coming together in a community uniting with friends and making new friends, this book would be considered a realistic fiction but can be read by anyone. The author of this book is Paul Fleischman, he was able to explain the book from the views of many of the characters and many different ways. The story takes place in the ghetto of Cleveland, Ohio. There is a vacant lot and there is a little girl named Kim and she is planting Lima beans in the soil. She did this because it made her feel closer to her father. Soon everybody starts to plant things there from many different cultures and places. The lot is still a mess but the city is trying to help clean it up. I really enjoyed reading this book, it kept my attention throughout the whole ting wondering what was going to happen next. I prefer adventure books but this one was a good book for any type of reader. The character Kim who started the garden was originally going to just plant her Lima beans as a way to connect with her father who passed when she was just a young girl. This book would make a good read for anyone out there who reads for a report of just for fun. When one of the ladies went to city hall to try and get the mess cleaned up she said "I need to speak with someone right away." The receptionist said "You'll just have to wait." Then the lady opened a bag of junk she had gathered from the lot and it smelled the whole place up and she got to see someone right away. She was in a rush so they would get over there or hire someone to clean up the mess because it was getting in the way between the smell and the mess there was nobody wanting to garden. I would recommend this book because it kept me interested and amused. A lot of people I know have said they like this book and would recommend it. This book would be a great read.

  1. I read this book awhile ago and also enjoyed it. It's amazing how much you learn about different people in such a small book. I love how it shows that a community can change for the better starting with the actions of a few people.
