Spence and Dieter are fighting for the same thing in this book. All though on different sides they are fighting for recognition. Spence, a boy at age 17 joins the paratroopers. Dieter, at sixteen is a gefolgshaftsfuhrer, or a leader of the HJ or Hitler youth. Soon he is called to defend Germany. Both expect to be heroes. They soon find out that war is what they think it is. I loved this book because of all the action and adventure. I also love World War II. This book is good for any one who likes world war two and historical fiction. My favorite line is " Spence didn't know where Pearl Harbor was but his sister made is sound like it was out in the great salt lake"

  1. This is a great book about war because it shows two points of view, soldiers on opposite sides. I also think WWII is a fascinating time period with a lot of great stories, whether true or fictional.
