The Alchemyst

The Alchemyst
By: Michael Scott

The Alchemyst is an amazing fantasy book by Michael Scott. It's a story about twins named Sophie and Josh Newman as they go on a thrilling adventure with Nicholas Flamel and Scathach.

It starts with Sophie working at a coffee shop. She sees some figures that look very suspicious heading into the shop across the street, where her brother works. Inside the bookshop, Josh hears a fight happening. He sees Nicholas use magic to defend the bookshop. A man named John Dee, tries to steal a book called the Codex. He manages to get part of the book and kidnap Nicholas's wife, Perenelle. Nicholas explains to the twins that he uses the Elixir of Life to stay alive for centuries. He takes them to meet Scathach, who goes by Scatty. Nicholas takes the twins to Hekate to get their magic unblocked. Nicholas believes them to be part of a prophecy. All is going well until John Dee and some of his allies attack.

This book starts in San Francisco, but that changes as the characters travel from one place to another. From Hekate's Yggdrassil, the world tree, to the Witch of Endor's home, the characters have an exciting adventure.

I think this is a really great book because it has a great plot. I really love how the author put it all together. One of my favorite quotes from this book is, "Great change always comes down to the actions of a single person." I really like this quote because it inspires me, because it reminds me that anyone can make a difference, even if it is a small one.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, action, and mythology. It is an amazing book, and I recommend that you read it. I really enjoyed reading this book and would read is over and over again.
