Winter Danger by William O. Steel.

                                    Winter Danger by Ben Turnbow.

Winter Danger by William O. Steel, is a exciting book. If you like the outdoors, mountain-men, and hunting you will love this book. Caje has always wished that he could have a nice warm cabin, food a fire. Caje is left with the choice to have the life he dreams, or go back to the woods. His choice comes down to his survival.

This book starts out as Caje and his father are walking through the rain. Their clothes and guns sobbing wet and it is creeping towards night.  As all his life as a woodsy Caje and his father find a hollow long and settle down for the night. Starving the next morning they find a drown raccoon and have a what seems like a good breakfast. Caje while eating it wishes that he had a better life than this... A nice warm cabin, a fire, good food, and someone to talk to besides his father. Caje and his father have a chance of a life time... To shoot a buffalo. As they are sneaking through the grass getting closer Their worst fear happens. They run into a Indian. Not just any Indian but an Apache Indian. The most fierce of that territory. Caje wool in his gun is not set properly and his gun will not fire. It is up to his father to save his life but Caje doesn't know where is father is. His father is a skilled tomahawk thrower and saves Caje's life. But there is never just one Indian, so they run for their life's, Caje gets a little closer to a bullet than his heart desires but has to move on. Just as they are about to be free, his father has an Indian over his head with tomahawk ready. It is not up to Caje to save his fathers life just as he had saved his. From the bottom of the cliff Caje saves his fathers life and they move on to a settlement and find Caje's dead mothers family. Caje is left alone and becomes the man of the house after his uncle breaks his leg. He is eating their food when it should be going to their stomachs and he wants to leave. But his dream is coming true and doesn't know if he wants to leave it.

I loved reading this book because I was always wanting to read it. I loved the action and the choices that Caje and his father made. It had a really good ending. I don't think that it could have been any better. I would recomend this book to anyone who loves the woods, hunting, farming, and adventure. I would read this book again any day. A quote from the book is... "And here I was thinking, That im so lucky to have a strong boy like you around. I hope you don't leave."
