Review: One Came Home by Amy Timberlake +GIVEAWAY
One Came Home
Amy Timberlake

In the town of Placid, Wisconsin lives a girl named Georgie Burkhardt. She is an amazing sharp shooter. She loves to shoot bottles with her Springfield single-shot, and rarely misses. She lives with her mom, grandfather, and sister named Agatha. One day, her sister disappears. Everyone thinks that she is dead. Then one day, the sheriff returns to town with an unidentifiable body. Everybody thinks that it's Agatha. However, Georgie doesn't believe it's her. She thinks that Agatha ran away. Worst of all, Georgie thinks that she might have said something to make her sister run away. Now it's up to Georgie to find Agatha with the help of a boy named Billy. She has her Springfield single-shot, but has no idea what she is going to face on the western frontier.
One connection I made to the book was being uncertain. I do not like being uncertain. Georgie is uncertain if her sister is alive, where she is, and how to find her. Another connection I made was being scared. Georgie has to spend many nights sleeping outside. There are many scary animals where she is. I would be so afraid to sleep outside out in the open without much protection. Georgie is my favorite character. She doesn't like to be told what to do. She is very stubborn and a little sassy. Agatha is very sweet. She is fun and really cares about her education. Billy is kindhearted and very good at taking care of others. This book takes place in a town. It is hot and dry. It also takes place in a forest. The forest has lots of birds in it. I think the theme of the book is to always do the right thing. In life, when you do the right thing, you feel good and happy. Your life is so much easier and you don't have to worry about making bad choices.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is said by the one and only Georgie. "Get out of here, cat! You don't belong here, cat! Go home lion! I've had it with you! Get! You evil, nasty thing! Get!" I love this quote so much! I can just totally imagine little Georgie yelling at a cougar. When Georgie sees something scary, she often yells. That's the only way she know how to get rid of things. By the end of the book, she learns that yelling can never get rid of a problem.
I really liked this book! It's funny and it keeps you interested. I'd recommend this book to pretty much anyone who doesn't get grossed out easily. It has dead things in is that might be to gross for little kids. It's perfect for teenagers! Overall, this book is really good and I am sure just about everyone will love it!

The Outcasts Brotherband Chronicles book 1

The Outcasts By John Flanagan
The herons a band of outcasts led by Hal they go through many trials and to see if they make it out you will have to read this book.

The Outcasts is about Hal and his friends as they go through brotherband camp and they face many challenges. Brotherband camp is about bonding with your crew mates so you work together well. The book opens about some Skanadians raiding a town next it is 10 years after and it explains all the characters. Next Hal is in brotherband training and is the leader of his ragtag group of outcasts (see what the book did there).

The book is very fun and i loved reading about Hal a creative thinker whose father died in battle. Stig is Hals best friend and extremely loyal he loses his temper easily though. Thorn is a drunk who Hals father used to raid with Hal then throws water on him at the request from his mother and gets his life in track.

A quote i really like from the book was "you can always win points winning peoples respect is a lot more important". I think this is true it is a lot better to win peoples respects rather than a game. This is also what brotherband training is supposed to do for you i t teaches you how to win respect.

This book was really great and i really liked it is kinda like his other series but with different characters and boats. This book was also good because it is about Hal who is very wimpy half Arulen so he gets picked on sometimes but he soon rises up as a leader.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Imagine being at a normal, regular party with many friends and family. When you go home, a wizard is sitting in your house, pouring himself a cup of tea and satisfying himself with cake. And then just when he begins to explain as to why he is here, he pushes you out the door and tells you to go on an adventure! This is what happens to a friendly and admirable hobbit, Frodo Baggins of the Shire. Gandalf unexpectedly shoves him out his hobbit hole to meet him in a place called Bree for business that is a great concern to the free peoples of Middle Earth. Frodo is given by his uncle Bilbo, the one ring of power. It has the power to make things differently from what they are. It can posses you and turn you invisible when you put it on. But, though the invisibility is a great function for such a mysterious ring, it draws Sauron's, the dark lord's, servants, the Nazgul to hunt you until years end if they have to. Frodo must embark on an evil and perilous quest to destroy this ring and restore peace in Middle Earth. He goes through the Mines of Moria with his several companions. Gandalf, Samwise Gamgee, Perigrin Took, Meryadock Brandybuck, Legolas Greenleaf, Aragorn son of Arathorn, Gimli son of Gloin, and Boromir of Gondor. They fight off the evil Uruk-hai and venture through the woods of Lothlorien.

This is a very good book, one that will not leave you putting it back on the shelf. It is an excellent adventure and novel and I hope that you enjoy this book as much as I did. One of my favorite quotes from this book is...

"I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened." said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope that this will give you an idea on just how good this book is.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone

Harry lives with his aunt, uncle and their son Dudley (AKA the Dursleys).  Ever since Harry's parents (supposedly) died in a car crash the Dursleys have always hated him. But they hated him even more when he got a letter from Hogwarts.  At Hogwarts Harry makes new friends. But Hogwarts isn't just a normal school its a school for witches and wizards. But Harry does much more than just making potions and casting spells.......  Strange things are happening at the school and its up to Harry and his friends to find out.
If i got a letter from a school for witches and wizards, I would faint and then wake up and faint again. Every kid wants to be special for something they did, I would love to be a witch for that reason.
One of my favorite quotes on this book is“You haven't got a letter on yours," George observed. "I suppose she thinks you don't forget your name. But we're not stupid-we know we're called Gred and Forge.”  I love this quote because if you just watch the movie it takes out allot of the humor that is in the book.
I would really recommend this book to any one because its so easy to read and there is always something going on so its never boring. I really enjoyed reading this book so much that I kept reading the entire series.

Counting by 7s
By: Holly Goldberg Sloan

Willow Chance is a 12 year old genius!  She is obsessed with nature and diagnosing medical conditions.  One day while Willow was waiting to meet her counselor, she met a Vietnamese girl named Mai, and she also met Mai's brother Quang-ha.  Willow and Mai started to become friends, Willow even learned Vietnamese so that she could speak to her new friend in her language.  After a day of counseling, Willow's counselor, Dell, drove her and Mai home, when they reached Willow's home, there were police cars everywhere that an accident happened and that both of her parents were dead.  And that, is where Willow Chances story begins.

I would recommend this book to 12 year old and up.  This book is beautifully written and has such a great story!  And, this book helps you appreciate your family and parents so much more. I loved this book so much, it is now one of my most favorite books that I have read.  And I don't think that you would be disappointed after reading this.

Willow was just a brave girl.  Even though she lost both of her parents she stayed positive and kept moving forward.  Willow was so grateful when her new friend that she hasn't even know that long took her in and fed and cared for her.  Willow also had great ideas.  She didn't like the way the the "garden" in the Garden of Glenwoods apartment complex looked.  So decided to get permission from the bank so that she could turn it into a real beautiful garden.

"When you care about other people, it takes the spotlight off your own drama."  After Willow's parents died, she was having a rocky start.  Then, she started helping people with their problems and started thinking less about herself.  She later realized that was a huge help in her life and that if made things easier on her.

                              Cherub
                           The Recruit
                               By Robert Muchamore
This book is a bout a boy names James. James is a 12 year old boy who lives in England. James is a troubled kid who always gets into fights. His mom died of a heart attack when James got home from school one day. He and his little sister, Lauren, were moved to a place called the Nebraska house. There Lauren got taken away by her father. James hated her father. He was a drunk and knew that he wouldn't take care of her.
When James was out smashing cars one night with the local gang, he blacked out. He later found himself in a place called Cherub. Cherub is a young spy agency. People don't expect little kids to be spies so it works. He makes some new friends there names Bruce, Kyle and Kerry.

In this book you will go with James through his time at Cherub and all of the training and missions that he has to do. This book is amazing. It is action packed and you can see everything happen with the amazing word description. I recommend this to anyone that loves action and humor. My favorite line from that book is "You can't make an omelet without cracking the eggs." I refers to how they may ruin some peoples jobs and lives in order to save hundreds or thousands of lives. It would be so much fun if I were to be James. He gets to go on missions and I think that that would be a blast. Once again this is a great catcher. I loved this book and I think you will too.
