By Mandy Hubbard

"Then I killed him. I drowned him in the ocean."
This book is heart-breaking, thrilling, and very romantic. Ripple is about a high school girl named Lexi. She has a terrible curse, she has to go to a secret lake high in the mountains a swim in it every night. Her father left her and her mother, and shortly after her mother killed herself. Her curse started when she was 16 years old when she swam with her first love Steven. When they went swimming Lexi started to sing, and she drowned Steven. From that day forward she shut out all her friends for their protection.

About a year later Steven friend Cole, try's to break her walls. Sienna is was her friend, but ever since her brother Steven's death she lead a group of kids to torment Lexi. Lexi learns the only way to break her curse is do the one thing she hasn't done in a long time, fall in love. Can love conquer a curse that could kill her true love?

Lexi is a beautiful teenage girl who lives in Florida with a dark secret. The water calls to her, draws her in, forces her to sing a deadly song to unsuspecting victims. She shuts herself off refusing to make friends or fall in love, again. She doesn't know what she is or why she is has to swim or suffer through an unbearable, painful day. She is unwillingly opening up again, falling for Cole who sees through her icy mask. This story is told through her point of view, and what she has to go through.

I recommend this book to people 13 and up, and anyone who loves a good romance. It will have you at the edge of your seat, wanting to read the whole thing at once. It has mystery and suspense, and it had me hooked from the very first sentence. I really loved this book, and know whoever reads this next will love it too.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol

Alice's adventures in wonderland is a very entertaining, very interesting book that makes your imagination expand. I think this is every child's dream to be in Alice's adventures, it was mine. I think that it is a very good book and I like it because it is so weird but at the same it is very good. Just about anyone could read it and be thoroughly entertained.
Its about a girl named Alice, and she is with her sister one morning when she see's a white rabbit in a coat and a pocket watch run down a rabbit whole. So she thinks, "how curious!" she runs to the rabbit hole and sticks her head into it to see the rabbit, but the rabbit is gone. So she tries to get her head down farther to see if she can then see it but she falls down that rabbit hole and as she falls, it opens up wider and wider. Things like bed and toys are also falling with her and she falls for quite some time. then she lands and shes in a room with a table and doors in it. One door, the one she wants to get into, has a garden and is too small for her to get into. So she tries to drink a concoction on the table that makes her smaller but she leaves a key on the table and cannot reach it. So she eats cake that makes her grow but she grows too big, and so she drinks the potion and grows too small. Eventually she gives up and started crying but them animals find her and she gets out into a strange new world full if creatures like dodo birds that can talk and cats that can smile. She has the biggest adventure and runs into the queen and needs a way to get out. But you will have to read it to find out how she solves all her problems!

"Tis so." said the Dutchess:"and the moral of that is-'oh, 'tis love,
'tis love, that makes the world go round!'"

"you'll never know unless you try".Swagger is a book by Carl Deuker and it's about a boy named Jonas Dolan. He's a point guard for his high school basket ball team in Redwood city, California. His coach as high expectations for him and is helping him to get in to a division two college basketball team. Jonas's skills are pretty good when it comes to basketball. But it all goes downhill for school. Jonas's coach has challenged him to get good grades so he can have a bright future. But his dad just lost his job and his mom is having to work extra hours. Jonas's dad got a great job opportunity in Seattle. His dad leaves the option up to Jonas if they are moving because it would be a struggle for Jonas to have to move. It's just another thing to worry about but Jonas chooses whats best for his family and sends them out to Seattle where he meets his best friend Levi, who also plays basketball for his high school. Jonas just has to continue getting good grades, helping the family, and working on basketball that is if he wants a bright future.

I like this book because it's about a kid who never gives up on what he wants. He knows what he needs to do and what limits he can push it too. This book is also inspiring in ways that kids could connect to. Jonas has so many things he needs to do and one is have a positive attitude. His best friend helps him through the trials he has to face and Jonas keeps his head up even tho his life is going down. I think this book is one of my favorite books and it has so much to catch up on but is so much fun to read.

Moby Dick

By Herman Melville

Moby Dick is a book about someone named Ishmael. Ishmael goes to an inn, where he meets Queequeg. Queequeg is an experienced harpooner and Ishmael becomes his friend. The two of them decide to go on a three-year whaling voyage and head out on the Pequod, captained by captain Ahab. Ahab lost his leg to the giant sperm whale known as Moby Dick. Moby Dick is white and very big. He has sunk many ships. Captain Ahab wants revenge on the white whale, so he offers a reward for the one who can spot him first. Two whales are caught: a sperm whale, who's oil is valued, and a right whale. The Pequod meets several other boats. Then, one day, they meet someone who has recently seen Moby Dick, and are warned against going, but Ahab doesn't heed their warnings. Moby Dick is soon spotted, and the Pequod is after him.
I thought that this book was very interesting. It is very hard to understand it, but it is a very good book. This book is very exciting at times, but it can be very informative as well. It can teach you a lot about whales, I know a lot more than I used to! A quote from this book is "Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow-Death to Moby Dick!" by captain Ahab. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading suspenseful books like this.

Series of unfortunate events

Series of unfortunate events

Janitors

Janitors

Author: Linda Gerber

I thought that this book was just going to be a complete mess, I mean just read the title. I read this book on a dare from my library aide partner and it turned out to be a better book than I expected. It had a good mystery behind the story line and a decently good plot. It was a well written book but it didn't have enough "pizzazz."

Aphra Behn Connolly has the type of life most teenage girls envy. She lives on a tropical island surrounded by celebrities and gets to go to the beach every day. She has no chance to make friends on this island so when a mysterious family comes to the island with there "good looking" son Seth Mul she has to get to know him better, but there is one problem. Her father wont let her talk to him.

This was a well written book but it was a little boring at points. I believe that this book was meant for girls (Which may be one of the reasons I did not like it), but some boys might enjoy reading it. I never really got into reading it because it didn't have enough attention grabbers for me. I don't regret reading it, but i do not think i will read it again.

I really loved Seth he seamed really cool and relaxed. I loved how his character was open and yet at the same time mysterious. He had a very cool personality and had an air of confidence that I really enjoyed.

“Never use limitations as an excuse for mediocrity.” I really like this quote in the book because it can relate to everyone and everything in life. I feel like it tells you that your limits are as big as you make them. This is my favorite book quotes.

epic fail

"A well oiled machine did not sound to bad"

For Elise a well oiled machine did not sound to bad, I mean if I can two younger sisters who always fight, and a twin that is older than me by barely a few minutes. Life is crazy at home, even more so that her mom is the principal of her new school and her dad is a math teacher there. Life does get quite complicated.

This book is about a girl, Elise, who moves across the country to a really high priority school where girls there where $500 outfits and the boys drive sports cars. Elise's family is not super rich like all the other kids families but she did not think that was a big deal. It was embarrassing when her mom the principal came up to her and her twin, Juliana, at lunch and would not stop talking to her and the people they were eating with. Guess what? This was also the first day of school, when they were trying so hard to fit in with all the kids that already knew each other. This was also the first time they had ever moved, they lived in Massachusetts there whole life. In a small house where they already had friends.

As you can probably tell from the cover, this is a romantic book. It is a very slow and steady book throughout most of it. I think this is a great book for girls, who want to relate to a book. It seems like anybodies life could be told in this book. I love this book because I can truly relate to it, like I can totally picture myself doing all of these things and having to go through these experiences and I think that is awesome! To any girls who is reading this, you need to read this book. It gets really spicy in the last few pages and if you like a little twist from slow you will just sink into this book.

Now, if you do not like romantic, slow but spicy books this is not the book for you. Then again if you like books that you can relate to, that is chill through out, and gets romantic then you will just have to read this book. I do recommend this book to anybody who liked or thinks you will like it.
